Abant Lake Travel Guide: Autumn Colours, Camping, Cabins

Two autumn weekends at Abant Lake in Bolu: a night at a lakeside camp site, a stay in colourful detached houses, and plenty of fog, colour and fresh air.

Every shade of green and the warm colour riot of autumn: Abant is beautiful in every season, and before you have had enough of one, the next one arrives. We especially cannot give it up in autumn and winter.

What is Abant Lake like in autumn?

Colours, mist and trees blend into one scene. Foggy, hazy days have a charm of their own, and when colour and air come together, the view is magnificent. On sunny days you get colourful houses, fresh air and plenty of oxygen. Abant Lake sits in Bolu and was formed when a landslide blocked a valley; it is the centre of Abant Lake Nature Park.

Can you camp at Abant?

Yes. We spent one weekend at the camp site by the lake and it did us a lot of good: a quiet and green setting, the lake in front of us, birdsong and cows wandering nearby. The site is spacious and well kept, with water and electricity, very close to the lake. We cannot wait to try it in winter.

Where did we stay?

On another weekend we stayed at Vonresort, a group of detached, two-storey, colourful houses side by side in the middle of nature, ideal for clearing your head and close to the nature park.

A weekend escape close to home

What we like best about Abant is that it is not far. That is why it keeps being one more weekend and one more getaway, and why we can return at different times of the year.

Rider Healthcare socks and a Galata Healthcare tablet fit well into a nature-day bag, and Educated Moto Riders runs trips for those who want to explore with a group.
