When you say Ankara, a green landscape does not spring to mind. True, it is a dry region, but on the Nallıhan and Beypazarı route we could not believe how good the roads were.
Why did we go to Nallıhan?
We found Nallıhan because we are interested in birds and bird photography, and we wanted to go. It turned out to be worth visiting for other reasons too: wonderful views and nature dressed in marvellous colours. The roads are special, and even more enjoyable on a motorcycle. We rode a BMW GS 1250 Adventure.
What is the road from Göynük to Beypazarı like?
It stays green up to Göynük, and after that the colour of the soil, the shape of the mountains and the beauty of the roads change. It is absolutely worth seeing, even if the region is generally thought of as dry.
What is there to do in Beypazarı?
We planned the trip for Nallıhan and added Beypazarı. Both belong to Ankara province. Beypazarı is a charming district with:
- Inns and hammams
- Museums and historic houses
- Small shopkeepers and sculptures
- Carrots everywhere you look
- Mineral waters
Buying a carrot juice and strolling the streets of Beypazarı was one of the best moments of the trip. Dozens of routes around it make it even more appealing. We shared the finer details in our Instagram stories.
Riding notes
On mountain roads the surface and gradient can change quickly. Set your speed before the bend, look through to the exit, spread any load evenly, and stop in a safe place for photos. Rider Healthcare and Galata Healthcare sachets were in our bag, and Educated Moto Riders offers group tours for those who prefer company.
