Longoz Forests Guide: Hamam Lake, İğneada and Karacabey

A weekend in the Longoz forests: Hamam Lake after a forest walk, a bird-watching tower, Beğendik village, İğneada and the quiet Karacabey Longoz.

Nature, views, sun, birds, ducks, forest… in the weekend we spent in the Longoz forests we did not want to return. The area is so large that we could not finish it.

What are the Longoz forests and why are they special?

Longoz forests are few in number, and we think that unless we see them, seeing them may become impossible. They feel undiscovered, unspoiled, far from people and much closer to nature. We saw both the Kırklareli and Karacabey sides. The word describes flooded forest that holds water during parts of the year.

How do you walk to Hamam Lake?

Hamam Lake is one of the 7 lakes inside Longoz. To reach it you take a short nature walk through the forest, and at the end you meet a view whose colours and nature leave you in awe. A bird-watching tower is part of the same outing.

How long should you stay?

There is plenty to do, and we think 2-3 days is comfortable. We set out early in the morning to explore. Our list for next time: canoe trips and bird watching, the Dupnisa Caves and the remaining parts of the forests.

What is there at Beğendik village and İğneada?

We widened the trip and explored the surroundings. Our first stop was Beğendik village, a small village on the Bulgarian border whose road ends in a perfect view: sea, bright yellow fine sand, a light breeze and silence. Our route suggestion is to rest in Beğendik, continue to İğneada centre, then Lake Mert and the Longoz forests.

The Longoz forests in Karacabey are just as quiet, with flowers, forest and clean air. Educated Moto Riders offers motorcycle tours and trips for those who like to explore nature routes with a group.
