Málaga ve Marbella, Costa del Sol

Málaga and Marbella Guide: Andalusian Spirit on the Med

Málaga and Marbella on Spain's Costa del Sol: Moorish traces, street art, orange trees and long seaside walks where Andalusia meets the Mediterranean.

Say Costa del Sol and luxury beaches come to mind. But Andalusia’s Mediterranean face offers more: Moorish traces, street art, orange trees and long walks along the sea.

What is there to do in Málaga?

Málaga is Andalusia’s gateway to the Mediterranean, a city where history and sea, tapas and palm trees stand side by side. Our list is short but full:

  • Alcazaba: the Moorish traces are strong here.
  • Gibralfaro: the spot to climb for Mediterranean views.
  • Soho: a neighbourhood full of street art.
  • The seafront: fresh seafood and a summer feeling that lasts through sunset.

Málaga is more than a beach city: it balances culture, history and life. It is also known as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso.

What should you look at in Marbella?

Marbella charms not only with luxury beaches but also with an old town that still lives the Andalusian spirit.

  • Casco Antiguo (Old Town): narrow stone lanes, flowered balconies and surprise squares. Plaza de los Naranjos, ringed with orange trees, is the heart of it, and the Muralla del Castillo walls from the Moorish period are a quiet window into the past.
  • Paseo Marítimo: long seaside walks, palm trees and golden colours at sunset.
  • Beaches: Fontanilla and Venus Beach are close to the centre, while Cabopino and the Artola dunes suit those after calm.
  • Puerto Banús: luxury yachts, stylish cafés and Marbella’s glittering side.

Planning notes

Combining the two means seeing the Costa del Sol for both its culture and its leisure. Across Andalusia, the same Turkish site also covers Seville, Granada and Ronda. For long hot days on foot we packed Rider Healthcare’s lightweight bamboo socks, with Galata Healthcare and Educated Moto Riders offering more options for the road.
