The first stop of a route sets the tone of the whole journey. Our summer motorcycle tour started in Marmaris, Turunç, and it began beautifully.
How did the tour start in Marmaris?
We had put the routes together with pleasure beforehand. Starting from Turunç, we moved excitedly from place to place. There was so much to see that we could not fit everything into our plans, which is a good thing: we left plenty for next time. We know that places we want to revisit will make far better tours.
Where to sit in the morning in Marmaris
After exploring Marmaris, we sat at a café on the main square. We watched the view, the sea and people getting ready for the day. It was a good place to shake off the previous day’s tiredness, and because it was early morning the start was calm and pleasant.
What is Marmaris known for?
Marmaris is one of the best-known resort towns on the Muğla coast, where the Aegean meets the Mediterranean. It sits on a deep bay among pine-covered mountains and is known for its harbour, marina and boat trips. Its historic castle was rebuilt in the Ottoman period under Suleiman the Magnificent. Turunç is a small bay settlement southwest of town, quieter and more focused on sea and nature.
